I like this because of the presence of the rare double-apostrophe contraction. I started using them in my writing following, most likely, James Joyce or maybe Mark Twain or some other writer of dialect style. They’re just so pretty and surprising and real talk y’all.

I don’t have anything to add about double apostrophes, but I love this song and I’m excited Helen Scott is probably covering this for our Slop Fest set (sshhh?).

VACATION

NOLA Vacation, Day 1: Nik and I barely made the flight. We literally ran to the terminal and on to the plane right before they shut the door. We did get to sit in Business Class, watch Seinfeld, and drink two free Bloody Marys, however, so I guess it balanced out — and yes, that was at 8:00 in the morning.

We made a brief “detour” to Baton Rouge (aka decided to check it out on a whim). It was brief because we couldn’t find anything of interest, though truth be told, we didn’t try very hard.

Then it was back to NO, where we found the abandoned Six Flags. I may or may not have pretended to live out a level of Left For Dead in real life (nerd alert).

Now it’s finally time for bed, and we have a room on the very top floor of this GIANT house. We’re both pretty sure this room is haunted by the ghost of a young boy. If I remember my nightmares I’ll be sure to share them tomorrow.

Sweet dreams y’all!
